Roof-Mounted Awnings Available in Select Pennsylvania Counties
When there is no wall to work with, the roof carries the awning instead. The Sunesta mounts to your roof and covers the patio below — custom-made, retractable, and installed by our own crew.

Shade Where a Wall Mount Will Not Work
Some homes simply do not give an awning a wall. A low roofline, a run of windows, a second-storey overhang — any one of them can rule out a standard wall mount. Roof-mounting solves it by anchoring the awning to the roof above the space instead.
The product is The Sunesta in a roof-mount configuration: the same custom-made retractable awning we install across the Lehigh Valley, engineered for a different attachment point. It extends over the patio when the sun is on it and retracts back when you want the open sky.
Designer Awnings is an authorized Sunesta dealer, family-owned and working in eastern Pennsylvania for over 25 years. Roof mounts get looked at in person before anything is promised — the pitch, the overhang, and the framing all decide whether the configuration is right for your home.
The Advantages of Roof-Mounted Awnings
Roof-mounting is not a fallback. For plenty of homes it is the better install, and here is why.
No Wall Required
Windows, sliding doors, and stonework stay untouched. The awning anchors to the roof above them.
Better Height and Clearance
Starting from the roofline gives the awning more height over the patio, so headroom and sightlines stay open.
Custom-Made to the Roof
Nothing is adapted from stock. We measure the roofline and the awning is built to those numbers.
Motorized Operation
Extend and retract from a wireless remote, a wall switch, or a smartphone app. Manual operation is also available.
Engineering You Can Check
The Sunesta is TÜV Rheinland tested and certified and carries Miami-Dade County Approval for its wind resistance engineering.
Installed by Our Crew
Roof work is not a job to hand off. The people who measured your home are the people on the ladder.
The Sunesta, Roof-Mounted
The Sunesta is Sunesta’s flagship retractable awning, and roof mount is one of its three configurations alongside wall and soffit. Same frame engineering, same fabric range, same warranty — attached above the patio rather than behind it.
- Custom-made up to 40 ft wide with 14 ft 8 in of projection
- Over 150 acrylic fabrics to choose from
- Five roof-mount frame colors: white, clay, beige, black, brown
- Motorized or manual operation, with remote and app control available
- Sunesta-backed warranty: 10 years on the motor, 10 on the fabric, lifetime on the frame
Limitless Customization Options
A roof-mounted awning is visible from the yard, the street, and every window above it, so the fabric and frame matter as much as the fit. You choose both, and you choose them at home with samples in hand.
- Over 150 acrylic fabrics — stripes, solids, and textured weaves
- Solution-dyed acrylic, made to hold color against UV rays
- Premium fabric brands including Staler and Sunbrella
- Width and projection built to your measurements, not a size chart

- The roofline is measured in person before anything is ordered
