Celebrating 25 Years of Local Excellence
For 25 years, Designer Awnings has been a family-owned business committed to quality, service, and community. We’ve helped homeowners across the Lehigh Valley make their outdoor spaces usable with custom retractable awnings and shade — with the kind of personal care a big-box brand can’t match.

From the beginning we’ve partnered with Sunesta, a global leader in awning innovation since 1981. Their precision-engineered products and our local expertise are what make every installation hold up — designed to last, built to impress.
Engineering Excellence with Sunesta
Every product we sell is manufactured at the Sunesta facility in Jacksonville, Florida. Sunesta’s in-house specialists and engineers work together on every component and feature, so your awning arrives built with close attention paid to the last detail.
The Sunesta is TÜV Rheinland tested and certified, and it is the only awning with Miami-Dade County Approval for wind resistance. Those two certifications belong to The Sunesta specifically — they’re the reason we’ve stayed with the line for 25 years.
Built in Jacksonville, Florida — then measured, fitted and installed here by our own crew.
SmartCode
Every awning carries a SmartCode — Sunesta’s own identification number, tied to your custom order and specifications in their database. It lets you follow your product’s design, production, and delivery, and Sunesta keeps it on file so the information stays available.
Why it matters to you
When you call with a question two years from now, we pull your SmartCode and see the exact build. No guessing at what fabric went on, no measuring twice, no waiting while somebody digs through paperwork.
Sunesta-backed warranty
Ten years on the motor, ten years on the fabric, and the lifetime of the frame. Sunesta puts that in writing — we install to match it.
Quality Design and Construction
Backed by Sunesta’s engineering, we build to fit your space, your style, and how you actually use the outside of your house. Here’s what sets our custom awnings apart.
Custom Sizes
Every awning is made to order and built to your exact dimensions — up to 40 feet wide with 14 ft 8 in of projection. No trimming a stock unit to fit.
Largest Fabric Selection
Over 150 acrylic fabrics for awnings, including premium Staler and Sunbrella lines. We bring the swatches to your home so you can see them against your siding.
Sunesta-Backed Warranty
Ten years on the motor, ten on the fabric, lifetime on the frame — Sunesta’s coverage, behind every awning we install.

Why Homeowners Choose Designer Awnings
We measure every job ourselves and we install every job ourselves. No subcontractors turn up at your house, and the people who measured the work are the people on the ladder.
“You’ll always deal with the people who built your shade — not a 1-800 number, not a subcontractor.”
Great service goes past the product. We keep communication clear and keep you informed from the first visit through installation day, and with Sunesta’s SmartCode™ system we can pull the details of your custom order in seconds — so questions get accurate answers instead of estimates.
That’s how neighbors do business. It’s how we’ve earned the Lehigh Valley’s trust over 25 years, and how we intend to keep it.
Let us, “Design your way to Shade!”
If you want custom awnings with expert craftsmanship and straightforward local service, Designer Awnings installs retractable awnings and screens across Berks, Lackawanna, Monroe, Luzerne, Carbon, Northampton, Schuylkill, and Lehigh Counties.
